Local Expertise
Deep knowledge of coastal systems and regional regulations ensures projects are adapted to site-specific conditions and climate realities.
Integrated Team
Our coastal engineers, marine scientists, and environmental specialists collaborate to provide technical, ecological, and regulatory insight from every angle.
Our Core Services Highlights
Our team at Ocean Consulting has been in the environmental consulting and coastal engineering businesses for over 20 years. Our experience and expertise are solely and uniquely in the niche marine industry, marine environment of Florida, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, the Americas (and beyond).
With hundreds of successful projects, we are a multi faceted and diverse group of scientists, engineers, and architects. We apply aggressive, outside-the-box strategies to new and on-going waterfront projects for both single family homes and multi-family or commercial developments. These same strategies are also utilized to quickly solve complex waterfront and permitting challenges, both for waterfront developers and for environmental restoration & mitigation projects.

Have questions, We got answers.
Everything you need to know about our process, and how we deliver results.
What do I need environmental permits for?
Environmental permits are required for any new over-water structures, or repairs to existing over-water structures. This includes, but is not limited to, seawalls, docks, boatlifts, floating platforms, dredging, and netting.
I bought a new home and have a violation for over-water structure(s) that are currently on my property. What do I do?
Our office can take you through the permitting process to legalize the “after-the-fact” structure(s) that were installed without the appropriate permits. We cannot guarantee that the agencies will approve the structure, or its location along the shoreline, but we will work with you to permit the structure in a feasible location, so you are able to enjoy your waterfront in the best way possible.
Another firm is processing my environmental permits for my new waterfront improvements, but we need a seagrass and/or coral survey. Can your team perform this survey?
Yes! We are happy to assist your team and conduct an in-water benthic survey to identify the substrate material and any benthic resources within the proposed project footprint that the agencies are specifically requesting.
Another firm is processing my environmental permits for my new waterfront improvements, but we need to have corals relocated outside of the project footprint. Can your team perform this relocation?
Yes! Our biologists are highly trained in relocating corals in South Florida and will work with your consulting firm to submit a coral relocation methodology plan, as well as subsequently relocate the corals to a safe location while construction occurs along your shoreline.
Does your firm complete the actual construction of the waterfront improvements?
No, we are not contractors, only consultants, engineers, and biologists; however, we’ve been working alongside local contractors in South Florida for over 20 years and are happy to submit the approved plans to their estimators and obtain bids for your review and approval when that time comes.
Does your firm monitor the marine contractors during over-water construction?
Yes! Our office offers a construction administration service for our clients, should they wish for us to oversee the over-water construction. This service includes, but is not limited to, inspections with the Engineer of Record, addressing contractor questions, and providing recommendations.
I’m building a new waterfront home and looking to re-map my FEMA Flood Designation for design and/or insurance purposes. Does your firm assist with re-mapping my property?
Yes! Our office is experts in re-mapping and can complete coastal analyses that provide evidence to FEMA that the property Flood Zone Designation can be reduced to a lesser restrictive Zone. If the coastal analyses provide a positive result, we can take you from start to finish through the FEMA re-mapping application process.
